Another Xbox Live Update

31 Dec

It seems that Xbox Live is still down, yesterday/this morning I noticed it was down from about 5PM until at least 3AM (G.M.T). I can’t say why this is, but I can say that it’s to do with Call Of Duty 4, because I can’t play that online during that time at all. I can play other games online (Forza 2, Guitar Hero 3) just not COD4.

I’m hoping Microsoft get this fixed soon, because if they don’t I’ll be calling them to give me an extra month of Xbox Live for free…if it continues I’d like to think some of you would do the same :)

Ubuntu 7.10 64-Bit

31 Dec

I’m just about to install the 64-bit version of Ubuntu 7.10 (Gutsy Gibbon), and I put the disc in while I was still in Ubuntu, and I noticed something strange on the root of the disc. There’s a file called wubi-cdboot.exe and I can’t figure out why it’s there, because as far as I know, Ubuntu doesn’t officially support Wubi.

If anybody could shed some light on this it’d be nice :) Also bear in mind it’s one of the official pressed CD’s

Update On Xbox Live

30 Dec

It seem’s that Microsoft are aware of this issue, which is good. However I noticed last night (December 29th) my Xbox was doing the same as the 28th!

Basically I turn the Xbox on, sign in, and it tells me how many friends are online then I just get the loading ring, and if I wait long enough it tells me to sign into Xbox Live. The weird thing is that if I put a game in, it signs me into Xbox Live no problems.

I think this is something to do with Call Of Duty 4:MW because I couldn’t play that online at all last night, so for the last 2 nights I’ve been racing on Forza Motorsport 2. If anybody else is having these exact same issues I’d be interested to know, as it only seems to happen around 9PM G.M.T until about 2AM.

And if you want to know who I am on Xbox Live, check the about page, I’ve just added my GamerCard! And don’t forget that comments are always welcome…unless you’re spamming me :)

Xbox Live Down?

28 Dec

Currently trying to sign into Xbox Live doesn’t seem to work, either on the console or through the Xbox Website. However, I figured I’d just pop Assassin’s Creed in, and play that for a while, and sure enough, it signs me into Xbox Live.

I hope the haven’t broke the dashboard…if they have, they’ll be in some deep water.
Anyway, never mind! More killing and free-running to do!

Christmas

27 Dec

How-To Section

22 Dec

I’ve just finished writing the How-To section of the site.

I decided to write it after seeing somebody got to the site by searching Ubuntu firefox 3 beta 2 and thought I’d write a how-to on how to install it in Ubuntu 7.10. I hope it helps anybody who want’s to know this. And please note that it should also work for 7.04, and I will try adding an image or 2 later on.

Website Update

21 Dec

Ok, I posted yesterday about how I was purchasing a domain name for this site (which I’ve now done). I also own http://www.joeb454.com which now forwards you to this site, so for those of you who’re like me, and forget .co.uk websites and always put .com instead are in luck :)

Anyway, I thought I’d update you on the situation.

*Please Note:the page’s do not work for this – e.g. joeb454.com/about will bring you to the homepage

Site Style

21 Dec

I really like this website style, though I have one issue with it – I want it to be a variable width so that it adapts to widescreen displays etc…also a 2nd column would be nice, I might have to experiment with the other themes on offer.

If anybody can help with this it’d be much appreciated

Office 2007 Disc’s

21 Dec

As I mentioned earlier I received the disc’s for Microsoft Office 2007 earlier, and I didn’t expect them to be full retail versions of the disc’s or anything, I expected OEM versions. Either way, the first disc is all fancy and what-not (there’s an image below) and the 2nd is just a plain silver disc.

Windows Vista Service Pack 1

21 Dec

I’m currently using Vista Service Pack 1, and I have to say…it’s not much different.

I’m well aware that there’s many change’s ‘behind the scenes’ which make improvements here and there. But to the end user, there’s not really much difference, except the disappearance of the “Search” option on the Start Menu.

I also have service pack 1 for Office 2007 (Ultimate Edition) and I haven’t really noticed anything different about that. Speaking of Office, I received my back-up disks today :) I only wanted them because I knew they’d be official printed disk’s
