Slicehost are good, though I know there are cheaper vps hosts out there. Look at http://www.cheapvps.co.uk if you want to save a bit.

That said, Slicehost’s customer service were brilliant, the only downside is you need a credit card, I had to go round the houses to get around that

Well, I think it’s only worth the while if you go for the cheapest solution (20 bucks/month). Otherwise I’d go for a dedicated server in Germany anytime:

The prices are way lower than anything I’ve found so far, and I’ve been operating 3 servers for some time now and I’m pretty happy with the service.

Though the lack of a credit card did cause some issues

We went with Linode (http://www.linode.com/) recently for the Mudlet (http://mudlet.org/) project. It’s $20 a month too, full root access Ubuntu, but it’s additionally 360MB ram and 200gb bandwidth instead of Slicehosts 256mb ram and 100gb bandwidth.

I’ve been with Slicehost for just over a year now, and not had a single issue. Best hosting provider I’ve ever used!

I personally use bitfolk, they’re cheaper (yay), have great tech support, and a great community behind them, and are based in the UK
