Facebook Easter Eggs?

Now…I don’t know if this would technically be classed as an easter egg, nor how long it has been an option…but it’s publically available, easy to find (if you take the time to check), and absolutely awesome.

I have the language on my facebook account set to English (Pirate). Yes, you did read that right! My friend Rich told me about it on IM, so I had a look….It’s absolutely brilliant, it adds a new dimension to Facebook (if only in finding out what things mean again!). I don’t think I’m likely to change it back either, it makes me laugh.

It’s hard to put it into words, so take a look at the screenshot below :D

I discovered this “egg” some time ago and its hilarious. One note for anyone switching the language to pirate…the email notifications come in pirate speak as well….

So you posted a screenshot of Mac OS X (well a webpage you were looking at in Mac OS X), in the category Ubuntu…

    Please explain?

    (Just a Joke comment)

I did indeed. It’s mainly because I need to fix my planet ubuntu feed. I’ll get round to it sometime next week, so it shouldn’t happen again :)

    Great Stuff!

Not to be pedantic, but you did a great job of moving your last name from the Facebook page… but not the title bar :)

    I know I know.

I spotted it as soon as I’d uploaded the photo. I just couldn’t be bothered to change it ;)

To be fair…if anybody got here from http://planet.ubuntu.com they’d know my name anyway :p

I just wanna comment the little “fail”: you blurred your name from your profile, and also the profile ID URL to protect your privacy, but you missed the window frame, and I could come across your profile at FB.

    Dude, change that screenshot :-p

Changed it now. I wasn’t overly fussed anyway. But hey ho :)

Hey! I take offense to the ‘wench” bit.. ! =)

Weren’t they working on another language too? A shame it’s not leetspeak- ’cause we don’t have enough people who write “FTW” and “PWNZOR.”

  14. #14 by Joeb454 on February 10th, 2009

Haha, it doesn’t always say wench, sometimes it says “lass” or possibly “scurvy wench” :)

I don’t know about any other languages, though leetspeak would be quite funny as well

DD: I don’t see the option in the Language page.
